For 25 years, I have been working in the Federal health care policy and regulatory arena. I offer a wide range of health care policy knowledge with specific expertise in the areas of Medicare, rural health, the assessment and improvement of quality of care, long-term care and home health -- and in the broad topics of health care access, delivery and outcomes.
As a health care technical writer, I specialize in transforming technical health care and medical information provided by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) into products that are clear, concise and usable for the intended end-users; and I ensure that these products meet any contractual, regulatory or corporate requirements for content and documentation.
As part of a project or contract team, I am responsible for writing or editing all manner of deliverables including training materials, guidelines, manuals, reports or applications/proposals. I bring to a team extensive writing, communication and organizational skills:
* Coordinating input from stakeholders, SMEs or other reviewers/contributors * Following GPO or other established agency/organization style and format * Establishing new style, format and content presentation guidelines * Applying Federal Section 508 requirements and Plain Language guidelines * Managing conference call and real-time/online editing sessions * Tracking/coordinating document changes and identifying decision points * Establishing and maintaining version control * Adhering to internal and external deliverable timelines/deadlines
I have been the technical writer for federal contracts for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) pertaining to:
* Nursing Home Survey Regulation Interpretive Guidances (State Operations Manual) * Quality Care at the End of Life * Feeding Tubes * Rights Regarding Treatment, Experimental Research and Advance Directives * Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) (operations manual) * The Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) (marketing guidelines) * CMS-Approved Accrediting Organizations (CMS/OFM Annual Report to Congress) * Area Health Education Centers (AHECs) (education/training materials)
